The Globe Theater. I love coming here to watch the plays that this man, Shakespeare, creates. Being in here just gives a sense of wonder, the theater itself is a work of art, not including the plays that are performed here. I love the atmosphere in the theater, although it is loud, everyone is having a great time being with their friends and watching the actors upon the stage. Speaking of the actors, I should probably address the play that they are performing. The tragedy being performed today is the favorite, Romeo and Juliet. This is one of my favorite plays, and since it's themes are so outright, it's quite easy to understand. The people around me seem to be in love with the tragedy as well. My seat is quite close to the stage, so I can clearly hear every word, and not be so distracted by all of the rowdy behavior behind me. Coming to the Globe Theater on a Sunday is my favorite activity of the week. I am able to relax, sit back, enjoy a comedy or tragedy of some sort, and eat peanuts. Being a nobleman, I can afford to do this every week. However, I do not throw my money around like its nothing, like those people who spend an incredible amount to sit up on the stage. I have never been up on the stage, nor do I think I will ever; it costs a ridiculous sum of money, and I would feel like I am distracting the actors on the stage, who already have to try to work with the roar of the crowd, not to mention people sitting right under their feet. It just seems like a waste of effort and money to me. The man that makes these plays, Shakespeare, I believe, must have plenty of spare time on his hands, in order to make these works of art. His plays are so in depth, and are so long as well. But the characters are so well developed, it’s quite incredible as to how he does it. The man is either a genius, or a magician. A new play is coming out next Sunday. I believe Shakespeare announced that the play is called Macbeth, and is based on a Scottish nobleman. I may have to go see it, if time allows, but I’m sure it will. I always seem to find time to enjoy a play at the Globe Theater.
Hi Brandon,
ReplyDeleteGood job on this first blog entry! You did well to respond to many of the cues given in the prompt. You (or your narrator) were/was very conscientious in not wishing to disturb the actors by sitting on the stage. The commentary on the upper-classes throwing their money around is a good exploration of the class-structure during Shakespeare's life. Hopefully you'll enjoy Macbeth!
